“If we could change ourselves, the tendencies in the world would also change. As a man changes his own nature, so does the attitude of the world change towards him. … We need not wait to see what others do.”
~Ghandi

IF we desire a more beautiful, connected, creative, loving world – be that ourselves. In that way we shine a light for others… validating others in their realities. Living beautifully and authentically validates others’ personal truth.
Empowerment through beauty is MY truth.
It wasn’t until I started seeing myself as beautiful that I was able to truly give love to everyone without feeling depleted.
It was a fragmented – forced love at first. Often times not believed or half-expressed … a begrudging trust that felt like a silent dark resistance of my formerly ingrained ideas about myself.
I had seen glimpses of beauty and worth, for sure – but never validated from within – these fleeting feelings of adequacy only came from friends, mostly lovers – a reflection, I had determined, of the validation I had given them (even now it’s hard to accept such praise).
To know I ‘should’ is not the same as choosing, seeing, believing.
It isn’t until I actively CHOSE LOVE that I could give it. And truly, every day, it’s a choice.
A choice to wake up in loving witness of the state of my body, heart, spirit, and mind – honoring their existence, listening intently, and choosing, in loving acceptance to work together in the newness of each sunrise, inhaling the greeting of the gift of yet another day… another day to listen, another day to feel, another day to learn, another day to choose. Now I’m choosing to live, beautifully, in love.
